Resold Costume Delights Residents, Saves a Penguin!

Have you ever stopped to think about what happens to all the props used in film and TV productions once they’ve served their purpose? Sadly, many of them end up in landfill, contributing to the massive amount of waste that we generate. But that’s where PropUp comes in! We’re dedicated to rescuing props and materials from the film and TV industry to reduce landfill waste and promote sustainability. This time a resold comedy costume delights residents of a care home.

Recently, we were able to save a large penguin costume from a TV production, which we resold to a care home on eBay. The sale not only saved the costume from ending up in a landfill, but also resulted in a carbon saving of approximately 12kg CO2e. We understand that this saving alone isn’t enormous, but it’s all part of the work that we do to make a difference.

The financial return from the sale of the penguin costume enables PropUp to reach more partners to rescue more props and materials from the film and TV industry. This is just one example of how we can all work together to promote a more sustainable future.

The recipient of the costume was thrilled with their purchase, and told us that the residents at the care home would love the outfit as part of their celebrations for National Penguin Day. It’s heartwarming to know that our work not only helps to reduce waste, but also brings joy to others.

We can help you too!

At PropUp, we’re always on the lookout for more items to save from the jaws of a skip. By recycling and reselling props and materials, we can all do our part to promote sustainability and reduce landfill waste. So if you have any items that you think we might be able to use, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Together, we can make a difference!
